Offshore drillers' dormitory in the harbor of the North Sea island of Borkum

On the waterfront: the Offshore Workers Residential Complex in the harbour of the North Sea island of Borkum realises a new living concept. The complex with more than one hundred apartments is perfectly tailored to its residents: service workers from offshore wind farms.

After their rough work on the high seas, they can live here comfortably – with communal and fitness rooms, loggias, sea terraces, barbecue area and sea view – as close as possible to their workplace at the same time. With their gable roofs and brick façades typical of the area, the two-storey buildings have an unmistakably Nordic appearance and seem to float above the dunes on their flood-protected site. Wooden slats lend rhythm to the façade. Exposed concrete, light wood and clear lines define the light interior.
